The city is known in O'odham (Pima) as
Valin Dak. Among members of the underworld in Arizona

On December 21, 2006, Goodyear AZ it was
announced that the Cleveland Indians of baseball's
American League, would move their spring training
facility to Goodyear from Winter Haven, Florida, and
thus re-join the Cactus League in February 2009, after a
15-year absence (before that, the Indians held spring
training for many years in Tucson).
There were 6,179 households out of which 32.7% had
children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1%
were married couples living together, 6.4% had a female
householder with no husband present, and 19.3% were
non-families. 14.1% of all households were made up of
individuals and 3.7% had someone living alone who was 65
years of age or older. The average household size was
2.68 and the average family size was 2.94.
In the Goodyear AZ city the population was spread
out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24,
34.1% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who
were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36
years. For every 100 females there were 103.7 males. For
every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.5
males.
The median income for a household in the city was
$57,492, and the median income for a family was $60,707.
Males had a median income of $40,702 versus $28,410 for
females. The per capita income for the city was $22,506.
About 3.6% of families and 6.1% of the population were
below the poverty line, including 8.7% of those under
